Summer Facial Trends

Summer means new trends in makeup, style and hair. Every time we welcome a new season we have the opportunity to welcome new trends. While some trends may not be suitable to you, others might be exactly what you needed. In addition to makeup, style and hair there are new skin care trends! Skin care is something we’re pretty passionate about here at Lionesse (obviously). Since the skin care trends are advancing and changing so often now thanks to technology and research we figured it was time we share some of the big summer facial trends happening right now.

Sheet Masks
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that sheet masks are EVERYWHERE right now. It’s pretty much impossible to walk through a beauty aisle or scroll through a beauty company’s website without seeing at least one sheet mask on the roaster. The sheet mask trend started in Korean beauty and it’s officially made its way over to the United States. Women (and men!) everywhere are embracing and loving sheet masks as an addition to their skin care routine. They’re a great way to get a little added boost to your skin care, especially if you’re facing any specific struggles with your skin. They’re great for targeting any issues and really honing in on them to give you results.

DIY Masks and Scrubs
We’re big believers in using quality skin care products and ingredients, but we can’t deny that there’s a huge trend around DIY-ing masks and scrubs using natural ingredients you probably have in your kitchen right now. If you hop on a site like Pinterest chances are you can find hundreds, if not thousands, of DIY facial masks and scrubs. It’s important to be careful and do your research, but many people are finding these to be a great addition to their already solid skin care routine because the ingredients are natural and easy to find.

Using A Serum
Serums have been getting a lot of attention lately as well. They’ve traditionally been skin care products that were looked at for the 40+ age group, but research and technology has found that starting with serums earlier can be incredibly beneficial. Like we said, technology and research has come a long way in the past couple of years and the ingredients available in serum products are incredible at helping address your skin’s concerns and preventing signs of aging from occurring in the first place.

Adding a serum into your routine has been a huge focus this summer season. Not only are serums great for addressing skin concerns, but they’ve also been found to do wonders at protecting your skin. You already know about using SPF on your skin for sun protection, but adding a serum into your routine has been found to help with protecting your skin from the sun (in addition to SPF, that is) as well as other pollutants and irritants we’re exposed to on a daily basis.
