Summer means sunshine, rose wine, and outdoor parties-right? All of these things are true, but the summer season also means that our skin is going to be faced with some different challenges and attributes. We’re all about enjoying all the incredible things the summer has to offer, but we’re also all about keeping your skin as healthy and protected as possible. In addition to the protection element serums provide, they’re also incredibly soothing and nourishing to the skin. Since we tend to spend a lot of time outdoors this time of year, our skin needs the extra boost serums provide. To gain the most benefit from serums, apply them after your cleanse/tone your skin and before you apply your moisturizer. Adding to what we mentioned above, moisturizer is essential in any summer skin care routine. Since it is hot this time of year and typically humid, many people feel like they can skip the moisturizer step in their skin care routine but that’s not the case. Your skin actually needs more moisture this time of year to keep protected and hydrated. Always apply a quality moisturizer to your skin this time of year. You’ll want to find a moisturizer that’s formulated to your skin type, but a bit lighter weight. The lightweight formulas tend to work better on the skin this time of year because the heat and humidity tends to leave products feeling heavy on our skin.
Drink Plenty of Water
Finally, we had to mention the importance of water. Drinking a lot of water this time of year helps to keep your skin healthy, protected and hydrated. Stay consistent with how much water you’re drinking to compensate for the heat!
