Cleansing your face is one of the most important things you can do to avoid breakouts and the occasional zit. Cleansing as soon as you get up in the morning, and once before bed, ensures dirt and oil doesn’t stand a chance at making its way into your pores, which is where it then clogs and rears its ugly head in the form of acne. Be sure to use products made for your specific skin type, such as dry, normal, oily or combination skin.
Moisturize Your Skin
Moisturizing your skin will help your skin be in the best shape it can be. Hydration is essential to the face’s appearance. When your skin becomes dry, it can then become flaky and irritated. The skin can then react in other unfavorable ways – and nobody wants to deal with that. By staying on top of moisturizing your face, you can ensure your skin looks and feels healthy – which is so important for those prom night photos!
Control Your Diet
Drinking plenty of water, eliminating caffeine, and eating a healthy diet are surefire ways to see great skin. Your body will love you for it as well, and you will find yourself having more energy to make it through the day if you aren’t loading up on empty carbs and excess caffeine.
Getting plenty of exercise is a great way to detoxify your body, which in turn will detoxify your skin. Try incorporating 30-60 minutes of fitness at least 3 days a week into your schedule about 2 weeks before prom, and not only will your body feel great, but your skin will look great as well.
Exfoliation is so important to the overall look and appearance of your skin. It removes the dead, tired skin from the surface of your body, bringing healthy, fresh skin to the surface. Your skin will hold cosmetic products better, absorb moisturizer better, and be overall free and clear of things such as acne or irritation. Be sure to use gentle exfoliating agents, such as peels or masks, and avoid facial scrubs which can be damaging to the skin.
