Preventing Dark Eye Circles And Fine Lines

Dark eye circles and fine lines…two skin care concerns everyone has. Are you with us on this one? Most of us fear developing these common eye area aging signs, if we’re really honest. These two eye area developments are really common signs of aging primarily because the eye area tends to show signs of aging first. Since the skin around our eyes is thinner than the rest of our skin, it’s much more prone to developing these signs of aging. Before you get into a major panic about having to deal with these concerns, we have some great tips to preventing dark eye circles and fine lines  you can start applying now.

Use an Eye Cream
Experts are now suggesting that one of the best ways to prevent these common eye area concerns is to start using an eye cream as early as your twenties. While eye creams were often thought of as a product you use when you already experience these concerns, using them before you get them is one of the best ways to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Eye creams are essential to your skin care routine because they’re formulated to work with the skin in that area of the skin. As we mentioned before, the area of skin around your eyes is much thinner than the rest of your skin. This means it has different needs, which is where eye creams come in handy.

Wear Sunglasses
This one may seem odd, but when you don’t wear sunglasses and the sun is shining what do you do? Squint! Squinting is one of those habits that we don’t often realize we do, but can cause fine lines to result later on in our lives. To prevent those fine lines, make it a point to wear sunglasses anytime you’re outdoors. This will keep you from squinting at all, and avoid getting those fine lines from that common habit. In addition to sunglasses, try to be conscious of whether you squint to see when you’re inside reading anything/trying to see things. Squinting to read or see indoors is just as common to cause fine lines. If you find you are squinting regularly, make an appointment with your eye doctor to get any necessary prescriptions for your eye sight.

Be Gentle on the Skin
We mentioned that the skin around our eyes is much thinner than the rest of our skin, which is why it tends to show these signs of aging quicker than the rest of our skin. Experts stress the importance of being gentle on the skin in this area. Always use very little pressure when applying products to this area of skin. In addition, never tug or pull on the skin as this can cause a lot of stress and result in dark circles and fine lines later on.

Finally, don’t underestimate the power of maintaining a healthy sleep schedule! Sleep plays such a huge role in our skin’s appearance and aging process.
