You’ve probably noticed by now that skin care and makeup go hand in hand. Since we are putting makeup on our skin, it’s only natural that they both impact one another. While it’s easy to want to use makeup to cover your skin if you’re having any skin struggles, it’s important to make sure that you’re also taking care of your skin properly otherwise and BEFORE you actually apply the makeup. With so many makeup trends and application styles going around, we noticed there aren’t many ladies chatting about the prep steps. So we’re sharing our tips to prep your skin for all day makeup so you can make the most of your makeup moving forward.
Make Sure Your Skin is Clean
To make sure your skin is prepped for makeup, experts suggest to make sure that you’re starting with a clean canvas. Since you are putting product on top of your skin, ensuring that it’s clean first is going to help prevent a lot of problems from happening and allow you to start with a better canvas right off the bat. Cleansing your skin with a gentle cleanser is the first step; when cleansing, take your time and really be sure that your skin is clean and cleansed thoroughly.
Don’t Forget to Add Moisture
Ever try to put makeup on dry skin? It doesn’t go on too smoothly, let’s be honest here. To really help your make-up to glide on and have a more flawless finish, it’s important to make sure you’ve moisturized your skin really well before putting any additional product on. After you’ve cleansed your skin, be sure to add a super hydrating moisturizer onto your skin to really prep it for all day makeup. This will help keep your skin from becoming even drier throughout the day, too. This is also where you’re going to want to apply your SPF product, so that you’re protected throughout the day. Optional to add a serum here, depending on your skin’s needs.
Apply a Primer
One of the most common steps women tend to forget when applying makeup, is actually applying a priming product to their skin. Priming products are amazing for prepping your skin for all day makeup and helping you to achieve a more flawless finish. Let’s face it, no one wants to be re-applying their makeup throughout the day (or evening) and primers are really helpful to keeping your makeup on all day long. After you’ve cleansed and moisturized your skin, make sure you add a priming product all over your skin before adding any actual makeup to your face. This helps to create a barrier between your skin and makeup that keeps the makeup on, and also gives your skin a barrier from getting negatively affected by any of your makeup products that could clog your pores. Not to mention, because it does create that barrier many will notice that you’ll get a much more flawless finish on your make-up because it’s smoothing the surface of your skin.
