As women, we tend to lead busy lives. Running kids around to games, grocery shopping, cleaning, and working – we all know how much we neglect ourselves at times. One of the biggest things we sometimes find ourselves neglecting, though, are the very thing that keeps us in motion getting things done – our hands. Our hands are an integral part of everyday life, and they are exposed to a lot on a daily basis. From dry skin, to pollution, to the beating of scrubbing pots and pans and housework, our hands deserve more than we really give them credit for. Isn’t it time we treat them with a bit more respect?
Lionesse wants to give you some tips and ideas on how you can take better care of your hands to give you healthy, fresh skin that not only looks good, but feels good. We hope you implement some of these ideas and tips into your daily life to ensure your hands always look and feel their best.
Massage Your Hands with Lotion
All of those bottles of lotion sitting in your bathroom, and you haven’t taken the time to apply a single drop of lotion to your hands for as long as you can remember. Now is the time for that all to change. Our hands are subjected to many elements every day and deserve a little R&R, wouldn’t you agree? Give yourself a hand massage with a deep hydrating lotion, and relax as you feel the stress and tension built up over the week simply release itself from your grasp – literally. For an extra special treat, have your significant other massage the lotion into your hands for you, or head to your local nail salon to get a hand massage before the next step.
Get a Manicure
Getting a manicure not only helps your hands and nails to look their very best, but it also promotes good health of your hands as well. Your hands may look unsightly and unkempt, and what more of a perfect anecdote to rid yourself of a bad look than to indulge in a little ‘you’ time? You work hard, and you deserve to splurge on yourself a little. Besides – a new nail color for spring might really help to brighten your mood! Opt for a hand massage while you’re there, and maybe even a paraffin wax treatment to seal in moisture and promote soft, younger and beautiful hands.
Exfoliate the Skin
Your hands could use a little exfoliation just like the rest of your body. That’s why we want to take the opportunity to remind you to exfoliate your hands just like you would any other body part. To create a great exfoliating mixture at home, mix some raw sugar crystals with a tablespoon of olive oil and a drop of essential oil, such as lavender or peppermint, and rub the hands together. Be sure to get the tops of your hands as well. It feels absolutely spectacular, and will leave you with soft, gorgeous hands after you rinse. You can do this one to two times per week for the maximum benefit.
Many women use sunscreen on a daily basis, but they forget to remember to apply it to the tops of their hands. Remember, your hands are exposed to everything – including the sun. This is why it’s so important not to forget to protect that skin and always opt for sunscreen application on the tops of your hands.
