Good For The Tummy, Great For The Skin

There’s been a major connection between our internal health and skin health.  It’s something that’s a more recent connection but really been something that’s changed a lot of the game when it comes to skin care.  While we so often focus on what products we put on our skin for skin care, so many of us don’t really think about what we eat and the impact it can have on our skin.  We’re chatting about winter food staples that are good for the tummy, great for the skin – you’re probably going to be surprised at the foods that are great for BOTH aspects of your health.

There’s something about cozying up with a warm beverage this time of year that always leaves us wanting to snuggle up at home with a blanket and movie or book.  Of course many hot beverages are known to be filled with sugars and things that can upset your stomach and upset your skin even more.  A great switch that can be soothing for your stomach and stress AND help give your skin complexion a nice glowing boost is green tea.  Green tea has quickly gained momentum, but it’s been used in many cultures for years because of its immense health benefits internally and with the skin.  Because of the antioxidants that are in green tea it can really help you settle your stomach, even be useful in weight loss, and give your skin the protection and glow you’ve been looking for this winter season.

Another winter staple, oatmeal tends to be a go to breakfast option for many people this time of year because you can enjoy it warm and let’s face it we all enjoy anything that gives us a little extra warmth this time of year.  But you may not have realized that oatmeal can be really great for your tummy AND skin.  Oatmeal is loaded with great nutrients that do wonders for your skin and help with weight loss and if you’re having some stomach issues internally going on.  You can add additional elements to switch up the taste of the oatmeal, and still reap the benefits of having a healthy meal that gives you skin a glow without upsetting your stomach in any way.

Walnuts are definitely synonymous with this time of year, but not only are they a winter staple they’re also pretty great for your skin and health.  Nuts in general have always been known to be a great snack for those looking to lose weight or dealing with some internal struggles because they’re not too loaded with major flavors that could upset your stomach, but they’re loaded with nutrients that your body needs to recover.  In addition, they give your body the omega 3 fatty acids it needs to have a glowing, healthy skin complexion.
